Mumbai: Bhushan Kumar, managing director of India’s iconic music album T-Series, has been accused of rape. A case has been registered at DN Nagar police station in West Andheri. Bhushan Kumar is accused of raping a young woman by making a false promise to work for her.
According to the information given by the police, an FIR has been registered on the basis of the complaint of a 30-year-old girl. According to her complaint, Bhushan Kumar raped her from September 2017 to last year. The woman has also alleged that she threatened to beat her if she kept her mouth shut.
A top Mumbai Police official confirmed the matter and said that an FIR has been registered against Bhushan Kumar under sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating) and 506 (sexual harassment).
Earlier in the year 2018, a similar allegation was made against Bhushan Kumar. Bhushan Kumar was also accused of spearheading the ‘MeToo’ movement, which has been vocal about sexual harassment in the workplace. It is not yet certain whether the same woman lodged the complaint.
Bhushan Kumar is also involved in the production of Hindi films. It may be recalled that IT officials accused Bhushan Kumar of illegally smuggling billions of rupees in exchange for his company’s assets abroad in 2018.
