US Army Headquarters Pentagon Building
Washington: The headquarters of the US Department of Defense, which operates US forces in several countries, was shot dead on Tuesday morning near the Pentagon. At least one person was seriously injured. AFP News reports that two eyewitnesses to the incident have said its details and current status are unknown.
The Pentagon Defense Force tweeted that the incident occurred at Metro Bus Plot Farm, which is part of the Pentagon Transit Center. Police reached the spot and announced a lockdown in the building. Metro Metro trains are also banned in the Pentagon. Testing is fast.
An Associated Press (AP) news correspondent near the Pentagon also confirmed gunshots.
Security has been provided at a safe place for all personnel in the building. Local news outlets broadcast footage of security personnel and firefighters running toward the Pentagon.
The Pentagon is currently on lockdown at the Pentagon Transit Center. We are requesting the public to kindly avoid this area. More information will emerge.
