Born on 19 April 1945 in Delhi, Surekha wanted to become a journalist or writer. But fate had already set his path. Surekha was then studying in Aligarh Muslim University. One day Abraham Alkazi came to his college. Surekha was very impressed with the play she performed. He then decided to enroll in the National School of Drama. She had also brought the form of NSD. But, he could not fill the form for several days. Surekha’s mother advised her to fill the form. He filled the form following his mother’s advice and entered the college.

After that Surekha worked in plays for many years. On the small screen, he has worked in ‘Balika Vadhu’, ‘Banegi Apni Baat’, ‘Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil’, ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’, ‘Kesar’, ‘Kabhi Kabhi’ and ‘Bas Mohabbat’. . But, she got her real identity from the character of Dadisa in the serial ‘Balika Vadhu’. Surekha also made a name for herself in films. She has worked in films like ‘Naseeb’, ‘Sardari Begum’, ‘Dillagi’, ‘Nazar’, ‘Zubaida’, ‘Rain Coat’, ‘Tumsa Nahi Dekha’, ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye’ and ‘Ghost Stories’. . His role in ‘Badhaai Ho’ was highly appreciated.
