Shakira murder case in Bangalore; 83-year-old principal found guilty of filing a petition for clemency from the President
Madhya Pradesh: Shraddhanand, the main accused in the 1991 Shakira murder case in the capital Bengaluru, has come forward to file a clemency petition from the President. In 2008, the Supreme Court ruled that Shraddhanand should remain in jail as long as he lives. Presently, Shraddhanand is lodged in the Sagar District Central Jail of Madhya Pradesh.
Shraddhanand has applied for release for good behavior in jail. Swami Shraddhanand aka Murli Manohar Mishra is now 83 years old.
Shraddhanand was married to Shakira Khalili, granddaughter of Sir Mirza Ismail, the former Diwan of Mysore. On visiting Sagar District Judge Dev Narayan Singh Jail, Shraddhanand has decided to apply for pardon to the President. Shraddhanand killed her in the name of his wife Shakira for Rs 600 crore.
Shakira had a property worth 600 crores on Richmond Road in Bangalore. His wife Shakira was murdered and buried in the back of the house. Shraddhanand was shifted to Sagar District Jail in his home state of Madhya Pradesh in 2011 on the request of Shraddhanand.
